Mind Set ~ poetry by Leesa Love

Mind Set ~ poetry by Leesa Love

(reposted) This poem was written in response to how some of my closest friends treated me after my husband’s arrest, as well as the fact that after running 4 routes 98% by myself all year resulted in 2 customers tipping me when I was counting on my usual bonus to help me find a place to live. I was deeply hurt by the judgment of all of those that I foolishly thought cared. They believed what they read about my husband and punished me though I’d done nothing wrong.

You had your mindset
Before the sun had risen
You cast your judgment
On one who’d been forgiven

You read in black ink
Words that were not right
You took no time to think
Decided it was black and white

How often do we see what we think we know?
We really know little truth but we just can’t let it go
It doesn’t concern us as we get involved
Our hatred only makes us bitter
What does that solve?

I am in those shoes right now
Walking around
Listening to your judgment
Hoping you might “come around”

Let it go
Just lay it down

Keep your opinions
For you don’t know what you think you know
and what you think you know is all wrong
