My Whole Identity ~ poetry by Leesa Love

My Whole Identity ~ poetry by Leesa Love

Sorry for the lack of poetry. I’ve been “in my feelings”

One day the sun shone brightly
Sparkling in her big blue eyes
Then in a moment everything changes
The day my universe collides
My whole world, my identity
Wrapped around her finger small
All those years, all those memories
She walked away and took them all

How do you learn to let go,
When “Mommy” is all you know?
How do you endure the pain
When you’re not needed anymore?

From the moment of that very first cry
We know they’ll be a day for sad goodbyes
And in a flash your world is empty, then
You think a new chapter will begin
But sometimes it’s not so black and white
Even though you tried to do things right
Sometimes it’s not so easy
Feels like you’ll never see them again

My whole world, my identity
Wrapped around that finger small
She broke my heart and took those memories
When she left, she took it all
